Main application
The earliest production of ammonium chloride was invented in 1884 by the German, made from ammonia and hydrochloric acid. In order to improve the utilization rate of raw salt in soda production, China's famous chemist Hou Debang successfully created soda and ammonium chloride dual manufacture process in Sichuan in 1943. This laid the foundation for mass production.
Physical and chemical characteristics
It dissolves in water, glycerin and ammonia liquid easily, slightly dissolves in alcohol, not dissolves in acetone
Classification
Our ammonium chloride is mainly 2 kinds: industrial grade and agricultural grade.
Ammonium chloride is a kind of important Nitrogen Fertilizer. It can increase the output of quite a number of crops, which has been showed by a large number of field experiments. In the tropical and subtropical regions, ammonium chloride shows better effectiveness than Urea, ammonium sulfate and other nitrogen fertilizers.
But in the process of fertilising, chloride runs into the soil. If method is improper, or amount is too much, it will cause harm by excess chlorine. The agriculture department pays much attention to that.
Correct usage
A. Consider soil properties. Ammonium chloride is suitable for the neutral and micro alkaline soil. Soil fertilizer ability refers to nitrogen capacity and strength for nitrogen. When soil fertilizer ability is strong, ammonium chloride shows better effectiveness than urea, ammonium sulfate and other nitrogen fertilizer.
B. Consider crops' resistance degree to chlorine. For crops whose resistance degree to chlorine is high, we can apply ammonium chloride preferentially. Otherwise, we can choose to use it less or not to use it at all.
C. Apply ammonium chloride and urea together, for the same nitrogen content.
D. Dosage should be appropriate.
E. Application of ammonium chloride should be basal in deep earth, and top application is complementary.
As a kind of high-quality nitrogen fertilizer, as long as the dosage is appropriate, methods are proper, matching irrationally, ammonium chloride can help get significantly increased yield and economic benefit, for crops such as rice, wheat, cotton, corn, canola, ramie, vegetable, etc.
Ammonium chloride is the by-product of soda and ammonium chloride dual manufacture process. Due to the high impurity in ammonium chloride, it is mainly used as nitrogen fertilizer. However, some crops are unsuitable for chlorine, ammonium chloride's use in agriculture is restricted.
China's production of ammonium chloride has reached million tons by soda and ammonium chloride dual manufacture process.
